John Mantach Grant, an exact contemporary of Pipe-Major John Grant, and a fellow Elgin native, was an accomplished water-colourist. Pipe-Major Grant enlisted the brush of his compatriot to illuminate his most ambitious work, “The Highland Bagpipe and Its Music” (4 vols). Here are those water-colours.
