Piobaireachd and MacCrimmon Canntaireachd

Sir,–In reply to Patrick Og’s letter, I think to decline his challenge to enter the controversy which has been proceeded in the columns of “The Oban Times” on Piobaireachd, Canntaireachd, pipe scale, etc. If “Patrick Og” is, as he says he is, not altogether ignorant of the subject, he will know that canntaireachd is the true and correct method of teaching and learning piobaireachd, and that the modern notation first adopted by MacDonald and Mackay over a hundred years ago as a mere clumsy innovation.
“Patrick Og” asked a brief question, and he has got a brief reply, so the matter is now ended so far as I am concerned.–I am, etc.,
