Sir,–since my retirement from active Government service, my chief anxiety and employment had been to do the best that I could for the preservation of pibroch. With this view I evoked the aid of your columns, writing under the “nom de plume” “Ceol Mor.” When, therefore, I see in your paper of the 12th inst. another correspondent writing under the same “nom de plume,” but with views as opposed to mine as they well could be, I cannot help thinking there must be some inadvertence on the part of your staff , which I hope you will do me the justice to correct as speedily as possible. –I am, etc.,

C. S. Thomason, Major-General, R. E. (The first President of the Piobaireachd Society).
