Salute To Queen

A brochure containing a piobaireachd entitled “Her Majesty the Queen’s Coronation Salute,” composed by Mr. John Grant, F.S.A. Scot., 35 Groathill Avenue, Craigleith, Edinburgh, has been accepted by the Queen.

The letter of acceptance from the Keeper of the Pretty Hers stated that the Queen greatly admired the skill with which the brochure had been prepared in the watercolours of Windsor Castle, Balmoral, and the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Mr. Grant, who has done much to revive the classical music of the Highland bagpipe, composed his first piobaireachd “King Edward the Seventh’s Salute” 50 years ago, and since then 15 Royal piobaireachd together with four Royal wedding marches have been accepted by the Royal family from him.
