Piobaireachd Society’s Music

27 Comely Bank Street, Edinburgh, 5 April, 1921

Sir,–When the Piobaireachd Society’s music for last year came out Mr. MacLennan stated in your columns that it was of the very highest standard of excellence. Since then he has written two letters complaining of the music. It would be interesting to know what Mr. MacLennan has found out in the art of piobaireachd to explain his change of mind. I have never heard any complaint regarding the decisions of the judges. I have no hesitation in telling Mr. MacLennan that a Professor of Music has no idea of piobaireachd. Who but pipers should the Society get as judges?

If the Piobaireachd Society withdraw their interest in the art, piobaireachd would suffer.–I am, etc.,

John Grant
